SESAWE

ME 377 - Design Thinking Bootcamp (Fall 2014)

Research has shown that by the age of 4, children from lower-income families have been exposed to as many as 30 million fewer words than children from high-income families.

To tackle this, Sesawe attempts to raise the academic confidence of parents who have dropped out of high school by teaching them alongside their child. Regular text messages provide information on important topics that parents can talk to their preschoolers about; books have tips for how a parent should read to their child ("Ask your child: What color is each rug?"); and in-person classes allow parents to bring their preschoolers and work together.
